Cookie Policy
The short version
- We use no advertising, analytics, social media, or other third-party cookies.
- We use a sign-in cookie, two short-lived cookies that protect Google sign-in, and two display preferences stored in your browser.
- All of them are strictly necessary or set only by your own choice, so we do not need to ask for consent with a cookie banner.
1. What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Local storage is similar but is only read by the page itself and never sent to the server. Both can remember things between visits.
2. What we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Category | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| atlas_session | Cookie (first party, HTTP-only, secure) | Keeps you signed in. It holds a random session token, never your password. | Strictly necessary | 30 days, or when you sign out |
| atlas_oauth_state | Cookie (first party, HTTP-only, secure) | Protects Google sign-in against cross-site request forgery. | Strictly necessary | 10 minutes; removed when sign-in finishes |
| atlas_oauth_next | Cookie (first party, HTTP-only, secure) | Remembers which page to return to after Google sign-in. | Strictly necessary | 10 minutes; removed when sign-in finishes |
| atlas-scheme | Local storage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. | Preference you set | Until you clear it |
| atlas-motion | Local storage | Remembers whether you paused animations. | Preference you set | Until you clear it |
The sign-in cookies are set only when you sign in. Nothing is stored for a visitor who simply reads the site and does not change a preference.
3. Other sites
When you choose to sign in with Google or pay through Polar, you visit their sites, which set their own cookies under their own policies. We do not load third-party scripts, fonts, or trackers on our pages, so they cannot set cookies on atlasnetworks.tech.
Our server records requests for security and statistics without cookies, as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Your choices
You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookie, you will not be able to sign in. If you clear local storage, the site returns to its default theme and motion settings.
If we ever want to use cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.
5. The desktop app
The Atlas Terminal desktop app does not use cookies for tracking. What it stores and sends is described in the Privacy Policy.
